Client Overview
The Watch Showroom operates in the watch retail space, offering quality imported watches with a distinctive twist. Their business model centres around purchasing clearance stock and allowing customers to customise elements of each watch, creating a product that feels personal and unique.
With ever-changing inventory and limited quantities available per design, The Watch Showroom needed a way to consistently present their products while clearly communicating what was possible through customisation. Their audience was everyday consumers looking for something considered, distinctive and accessible.

The Challenge
The core challenge was visual clarity.
The Watch Showroom needed to show customers how a watch would look once customised, despite the fact that stock was constantly changing and no two products were ever exactly the same. At the same time, the calibre of their existing product photography wasn’t doing justice to the quality of the watches or the brand they were building.
Success meant:
- High-quality, consistent product imagery
- Clear visualisation of customisation options
- Photography suitable for both their e-commerce store and classified advertising platforms

Our Approach
We approached this project with precision, consistency and scalability in mind.
Ascendant Studio set up a professional mini product studio using a three-point lighting system and a black backdrop that aligned seamlessly with The Watch Showroom’s brand aesthetic. To ensure absolute consistency across products, we designed a custom rig that positioned each watch in a standardised orientation, allowing strap placement, angles and proportions to remain uniform across the entire range.

Rather than photographing every possible customised variant, we took a strategic approach. We photographed one example of each customisation type and used these images as templates. Through meticulous post-production work, individual watches were then composited into these templates, allowing us to accurately visualise custom options without compromising realism or quality.
Throughout the process, careful attention was paid to lighting, reflections and overall tonal consistency, ensuring the final imagery felt premium, cohesive and unmistakably on-brand.
The Solution
The result was a refined library of product photography that brought clarity and confidence to The Watch Showroom’s offering.
We delivered:

A consistent set of high-quality product images

Clear visual representations of available customisations

Lifestyle-style imagery to support broader brand storytelling and social content
Each image was crafted to reflect the individuality of the product while maintaining a cohesive visual system across the range. The final photography allowed customers to clearly understand what they were buying and imagine how each watch could be made their own.
The Impact
The new photography gave The Watch Showroom the confidence to actively promote their products across their e-commerce store and classified listings. Following the rollout:

The client noticed an increase in responses to their advertisements

Product listings felt more credible, premium and trustworthy

Customisation options were easier for customers to understand and engage with
Most importantly, the imagery supported their unique business model by making customisation tangible and accessible.
